Strabismus requires aggressive treatment. Often patients are unaware there are treatments other than patching available. New research has shown improvements can be made even in older children and adults. When binocular (two-eyed) vision is enhanced, patients have less headaches and fatigue on a daily basis. Many eye deviations can be treated without surgery. Those who ultimately require surgery have less of an incidence of repeat surgery if vision therapy is initiated first. Treatment and proper spectacle or contact lens correction can significantly imrpove outcomes of these patients.
