Concussions and more involved traumatic brain injuries have been in the news a great deal the last few years. We are learning more each day about how these injuries affect all the different systems of the body, especially vision. Dr. Amin is on the leading edge of treating these patients, treating patients on a regular basis at Banner's Concussion Center and in our office. Advanced Vision is a preferred referral choice for the Phoenix VA, providing rehabilitative care to the veterans who have signigicant visual issues post injury. These visual problems can often be missed or overlooked during initial treatment. Delaying vision therapy can slow the recovery of these patients significantly. Common symptoms include double vision, light sensitivity, print movement, eyestrain that is worse with reading and near work, poor balance and coordination. We are proud to be working with the VA and several other rehab facilities to improve the delivery of this care and help these patients recover more quickly and fully.

What is Vision Therapy?

How well a person can see isn't just limited to whether or not they need glasses. It also involves a multitude of connections between the eyes and various parts of the brain. If those connections are weak or improperly wired then it can cause just as much (if not more) destruction to an individual's visual performance. This is where Vision Therapy comes into the equation.
